Tropic wanted to refresh their web presence to more accurately represent their unique market fit and growing line of products and features. The ask was to step in to assist the in-house design team with prototyping pages and building rapidly with a very fast turnaround time, while also not cutting corners and sacrificing performance, SEO and accessibility considerations, and overall user experience. The result is something that we were all very proud to take to market, and we continue working with Tropic today.

Seriously, words can't describe how much of a legend Travis proved to be regarding Webflow and our site project. I hit up my network and got a dozen referrals for "rockstar" freelance Webflow devs. I emailed and called every one of them and got the same answer every agency gave us - "we can't commit to building a new site from scratch in a month." I was at the end of my list when a coworker who had worked Travis in the past recommended I talk to him to see if he could help. The first thing he told me was it was "aggressive, but not impossible." You're hired! I've worked on a few Webflow sites in my career and can say with 100% confidence that Travis is hands down the best Webflow developer I've met, with a rare blend of crystal clear communication, design acumen, hustle mentality, and kind-heartedness. If you ever need a Webflow developer, Travis (Industrious Design Co) should be your first play. In our case, it was a Hail Mary. Luckily, it scored the game-winning point. P.S. Webflow you really need to put this guy on payroll. 😉

Dig into the details
In order to meet the quick turnaround, this was an all-hands on deck situation involving daily communication with Tropic's project manager and design team. Luckily, the team was on board with using Finsweet's Client-First design system and Relume components (what I use on every project) before we ever spoke, so that was the easy part. Much of the design was happening on-the-fly, so built out the style guide and all components first, then started building pages. This enabled me to work quickly and efficiently, while also avoiding the typical pitfalls that fast builds are notorious for (bloated classes and interactions, non-scalable CMS pages, etc). For this to have been page-for-page one of the quickest turnarounds of my career, I'm so happy to report that the client was very pleased with the work, and we are still working together on ongoing site additions and maintenance.
The team at Tropic approached me with a very tight timeline (30 days until launch). While most would have written them off, and many did, I dug deeper to ask questions before making my own assessment. What I found was a team that had stellar designers and copywriters already hard at work, a fantastic project manager who was experienced enough to anticipate needs, and top-down buy-in from their whole staff on the exact tech stack that I was recommending. The stars had aligned. I advised that the timeline would be "aggressive, not impossible", and we were able to get it done with some time to spare. What Tropic ended up with is a scalable, accessible, and performative website that will serve their business well for years to come.
